Made another trip to Brass Tacks, always good. My girlfriend and I split a burger and the brisket Mac & cheese. Burger was perfectly cooked and you will never go wrong with the Mac and cheese. Also, it was happy hour so we collectively drank four Old fashions for $7 a piece! Yes please. Our server wasn't very attentive, that's why I went four stars instead of five. The hostess was fantastic and made sure we were taken care of. Plus....live jazz was great, perfect volume, you could still hold a conversation without yelling at each other. Trendy restaurant layout with a basement private dining area where you can host your own event. I attended an awesome Cannabis Industry private party here and the room downstairs was the perfect setup with great food. The hors d'oeuvres were pretty spot on with awesome flavor. I did not partake in the bar however I'm sure their drinks are decent being that it's a gastropub. Service here was efficient and friendly. Street parking isn't so bad either for being in the SoDo district.
This is a great happy hour place for groups. They don't take reservations on Fridays; however, when we arrived at 5:30 we were able to get the large table in the back of the restaurant (which comfortably sat the 10 of us). I wish they had coat hooks on the wall. Our jackets kept falling from the bench to the floor. The shepherd's pie had an unimpressive mashed potatoey crust and the lamb pieces inside were awfully dry. I was so disappointed! The poutine and candied bacon were both delicious. The service could have been better. The waitress didn't seem to be around when we wanted her. At one point, both water carafes were completely empty until we eventually were able to get the server's attention. She also didn't ask if we'd like to split the check. (With a group of 10, we definitely would have.) It took so long to get the first check, though, that it was faster for us to sort it out ourselves.
Ok serious they are doing it RIght! Walked in and greeted with a smile! Walked to the hidden back room where we all gathered for my friend evening. My close friend new the owner and we were rolling high roller status that night! We all were dolled up ready to have tasty drinks and food! My friend and I shared the burger and lobster Mac and cheese sayyy what! We had some other delicious items not on the menu therefore we can't disclose! Let's just say.,.. The food was on POINT!! This location is prime too, great job picking it out! I advise you get your happy cheeks on down to this there spot and try their food busting out left and right and their service to die for! From on foodie to another... Enjoy and cheers!
Brass tacks is an outstanding place in Georgetown. I was hear late at night--I saw some reviews were not great, but I cannot imagine a better late night place for drinks and food. I was just drinking wine--they have a nice selection of reds. The real treat was the food. I order the frites (French fries) and candied bacon. The candied bacon alone makes this an essential visit. With the name alone it seems like a can't-miss dish--and it does not disappoint. Every bite is an absolute treat, just the perfect mix of sweet and savory. I am surprised more places do not offer this. The fries were very good also--with fresh cut potatoes fried just right. This place has excellent bar food, definitely worth a visit.
